Advice on Making a Character History

A few words of advice on making your character history. Some if not all of this can in some fashion be found in the newer editions of the core rules, but it bears repetition.

1. Please don't write yourself to be a major world figure, a relation to a major world figure.

2. Please don't ask for special powers, abilities, or magical artifacts.

3. Don't make up major geographical features. A small town or village that you're from is okay, but making up your own kingdom, continent, or planet is a bit much.

4. Please don't write histories that make up major historical events, large-scale wars, worldwide plagues, etc.

5. Please don't make assumptions about a race as a whole in your racial packet, especially assumptions based on other campaigns versions of races compared to ours.

6. PLEASE get a copy of your race packet and read it before making a character history, unless it's very, very simple.

7. No time traveling character histories will be approved.

8. Please don't write character histories that would require us to rewrite the race packet or rules :)

9. Please do not consume large amount of alcoholic beverages or other mind altering substances immediately before sitting down to write your character history. This will also help cut down on #10.

10. I can't stress this enough people, SPELL CHECK! Read over what you've written and see if it is comprehensible English or if it looks like a cat jumped on the keyboard ;)
